A Javanese comedy group named Srimulat is suddenly disturbed by a heckler during one of their show. Apparently, the Heckler is one of the Srimulat percussionists. His name is Gepeng, and his heckling is funnier than the main group. The heckling incident makes Teguh, leader of Srimulat, recruit Gepeng after Srimulat got invited to appear for the first time on the State-Owned Television channel in Jakarta, the capital city.

In the capital, Gepeng must be able to adapt himself to the rest of the Srimulat group, which consists of Asmuni, Timbul, Tarsan, Tessy, Paul, Basuki, Nunung, Ana, and Djudjuk. In the midst of his efforts to adapt to the Srimulat family, Gepeng meets and falls in love with a native Jakartan girl named Royani. When Gepeng starts to lose his focus and main purpose in the capital, suddenly Srimulat received a request to make a special appearance in front of the President and First Lady.
